Happy Easter!
10:37 AMWe had a wonderful Easter. It was different from other years because of Covid-19 but we still had such a special & wonderful day. I am so thankful for my Savior who sacrificed Himself for us & suffered for all of our sins so that we might live with Him once again. I have loved doing the "Come, Follow Me" lessons over the past 2 weeks to thing of His sacrifice & learn more of the background around it.
We woke up & Nate gave Lily breakfast, then we brought out her Easter basket & she loved going through it. It had a little soft bunny that she loved. She kept carrying it all around the house, putting it in different places, & then telling it to "sit" (her new favorite word, she loves pointing at Blitzen too & telling him to sit all day long). She also like the little books in her basket & pulling out all the eggs & crinkly paper. Then we gave her some stickers to put on eggs & she ended up putting them on paper & loving it. She started crying when the stickers were all gone!
While Lily was down for her morning nap we did our Sacrament. We sang & had a prayer, then Nate blessed the bread & water, & then I taught a little lesson & we watched a few videos. Then I taught a lesson to the young women in our ward over Zoom. They were so sweet & gave such good comments.
After that we did some Easter egg hunts with Lily in the backyard. It was so much fun, she had two little baskets & knew exactly what to do! She went all around the yard, finding most of the eggs on her own! It really is so much more fun having kids on holidays! I loved seeing her excitement & how she wanted to keep doing hunts again & again. Once again there were tears after the egg hunts were done, many high & low emotions throughout the day, haha, but mostly high! We had lunch & then my mom & dad came over to go on a walk. It was so nice to see them even though we had all thought it was better not to do dinner all together with everything going on. After our walk, we did another little egg hunt in the backyard so they could see!
Then the rest of the day was spent making Easter dinner! Everything turned out amazing & we tag teamed to get everything made & cleaned while playing with Lily. We made maple dijon ham, scalloped potatoes au gratin, garlic blistered green beans, honey oat rolls, sparkling french berry lemonade, & lemon shortcakes with strawberries & whipped cream! It was so nice to have such a good meal together & to celebrate such a wonderful holiday! Lily loved everything as usual! Then we went on a long walk, came back, put Lily to bed, facetimed with our Flake family, watched Tuck Everlasting & had shortcake!
It was a wonderful Easter & I love that no matter what is going on in the world, we were able to find peace & have a beautiful day remembering our Savior & his infinite sacrifice for us.
