Snow Day!!!!

7:29 AM

**I wrote this post a few months ago, in March, and forgot to post it then!!

On Thursday, Nate and I both went to work at our schools, as usual. When I got to work, it started lightly snowing. It kept snowing and we heard that it was supposed to get heavier and heavier throughout the day. Then we found out that school would end 2 hours early, so that parents could pick up their kids before it was snowing too hard. We found this out at about 9:30am. I work in the office, as a secretary, so the next 5 hours were insane, trying to call every single parent with the rest of the office staff. At about 1:30, Nate came by and picked me up(I have never driven in the snow before and my car isn't the greatest for this weather). We headed home and spent the rest of the day watching movies and making homeade pizza and pizzokies. Then we found out that school would be cancelled the next day, Nate's wrestling meet all day Saturday was cancelled, and church was even cancelled! School on Monday ended up being cancelled too! It was sooo much fun to have a surprise break and for Nate and I to be able to spend so much time together. The past few months have been so busy because Nate coaches wrestling and they have all day meets almost every weekend. So it was extra amazing to be able to have a few days off with everything cancelled. Also, I have only lived in warm places before, so I have always dreamed of having a snow day!!!

On Friday, we went for a long walk out in the snow and then spent most of the day inside again, staying warm, relaxing and watching movies and the olympics. On Saturday, we met up with our friends, Sean and Erika, to go sledding. I love playing in the snow, but have never lived anywhere where it snows. Growing up, my family would usually drive to the snow about once a year, we would play in it for a few hours and then head back home.

First we headed to a hill we had heard about, it was small/medium size and there were about 15 kids with their parents sledding, and then the four of us! We hadn't been able to find sleds, so we had pool blow up rafts and tubes (they actually ended up working really well and didn't even pop). We spent awhile sledding there and then decided to drive around to find another hill. Erika spotted a perfect hill, it was by a deserted parking lot and no one else was there. We had so much fun sledding down in and then after awhile, the boys built a ramp at the end so we could get some air! Nate tested it out a few times, and was launched into the road and curb, before it was perfected. I went on it a few times and it was a little painful but fun! Then we found another VERY steep hill. You had to climb up the hill and hold onto a chain link fence to stay at the top, because it was so steep. Then at the bottom, you had to try and avoid hitting a rain gutter. I was so scared, but wanted to go on it. Nate was so sweet and helped me climb up and helped me be in the right place to sled down. I closed my eyes most of the way from being so scared, but it ended up being awesome and so fun! Lastly, we opened the trunk of our car and had someone in the backseat hold a rope and then someone sit in the pool tube behind the car to be pulled, holding the rope. It was soooo much fun! It was the best snow day ever!!!! Even though it has been hard living somewhere so cold and getting used to all of the changes, there are some amazing things about living in Vancouver. I have loved having a fall season and seeing all of the leaves change colors and it has been so fun to see beautiful snow falling and to be able to have snow days and play in the snow all day!

On Sunday, we had our own little church, watching Mormon Messages online. Those always make me so emotional!! Then we relaxed most of the day, which was so nice.

Monday we mostly did errands. Nate had been dying to go to Costco, he loooves Costco and hadn't been there in a while (: Then we made and mailed some Valentines packages. Nate had wrestling practice for an hour and then we had some chili and cornbread and brownies, and watched the Olympics. This morning, it is back to school. (It is a 2 hour late start though, so we did get to sleep in a little and have a nice breakfast together). Overall, it has been a very nice, lazy, and much needed and appreciated break!!!
